About Us

Who We Are

The Argonauts of NJ is a social, fraternal organization of New Jersey’s gay leathermen, 21 years and older, who:

· Are proud to make the leather lifestyle an important part of their lives

· Strive to further strengthen the image of the leather lifestyle in New Jersey and surrounding areas

· Offer friendship and support to each other and others like themselves in a positive association.

 

As Argonauts and Leathermen, we strive to be brothers to each other. We are expected to be understanding and supportive of our brothers — to defend them from malicious gossip and harmful accusations, to keep their confidences private, and to work toward harmonious interpersonal relationships while promoting a positive image for gay leathermen.

 

We recognize that this brotherhood consists of individuals who are able to maintain their individuality and personality. We therefore embrace a wide diversity of expression of our sexuality and lifestyles. We believe in the self worth of the individual and offer to our membership an extended family.

 

What We Do

· We offer brotherhood and support to each other.

· We seek affiliations other leathermen and leather clubs.

· We sponsor social activities and charitable fundraisers for the leather community, raising money for AIDS support as well as other charities supportive of the gay community.

· We contribute to the overall gay community with service.

· We meet for Leather Socials on the last Saturday of each month & hold business meetings the 2nd Tuesday of each month @ Cruisin in Asbury Park, NJ. (www.CruisinTheCircuit.com)

 

NOTE: Business meetings for June, July, August 2008 will be held at alternate locations due to Cruisin’ summer schedule. Please call Chuck @ 201-214-8528 for details on locations and directions.

 

Membership in The Argonauts

There are two primary memberships in the Argonauts: Brothers and Associate Brothers. A third, *Honorary Brother* is reserved for those individuals who are selected by the Chairman of the club for recognition of extraordinary service to the New Jersey Leather Community. Honorary Brother Memberships will continue at the sole discretion of the Chairman.

 

Becoming a Member

The best way to become a member of The Argonauts is to join us at one of our monthly meetings or socials @ Cruisin’ in Asbury Park, NJ., or come to a monthly Leather Night on the first Friday of every month, also @ Cruisin’.

 

Meetings & Socials

Our business meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month @ Cruisin’ and the open portion of our meetings start at 8:30PM.

 

Socials are scheduled for the last Saturday of each month @ Cruisin’ starting at 10PM.

 

By meeting the brothers we can get to know each other and discuss the application process.
